Prison Custody Officer in G4S Parc

BECOMING AN OFFICER

It doesn’t matter what career background you come from. Our people come from every line of work you can imagine. Some of them used to be in the Army, others were postal service, teachers, bar managers, factory workers, some were at home or volunteers before joining – the list is endless. What’s important are the transferable skills that someone can bring to the job – empathy, interpersonal skills and the ability to cope under pressure.

What we look for are the qualities that make someone a valuable member of our team. To succeed with us, you need to be a real people person, with a mixture of common sense compassion and a sense of humour. You’ll enjoy helping to change people’s lives, and will thrive in an environment where no two days are the same.

Working within a secure establishment, you will need to be able to follow rules in a structured environment and need the ability to balance security, care, control, decency and respect.

If you’ve got these skills and abilities, you’ve got everything it takes to succeed with us. We offer first-rate training and rewarding careers, in an environment that’s all about teamwork.

G4S is the world’s leading provider of security solutions – so when you join us, you’ll be part of a global business. We’re able to provide exceptional job security, as well as the opportunity to progress with us as we continue to develop and expand.

Joni Sage

Before I started here, I worked for an environmental company. I enjoy this job because every day’s different, and the culture’s professional and diverse.

I haven’t got any specific goals for the future, although I’d like to stay here. Mainly, I want to gain as much experience as possible, and see what opportunities turn up along the way.

Bhim Siris

I’ve been a prison custody officer here since last September – As a former Gurkha with the British Army, I used to do a similar job in a different environment. This one’s more rewarding though.

I like dealing with different people, and the team spirit at Parc makes the job more enjoyable. Here, everyone’s working together to achieve the aims of the company. In the future, I’d like to take up the option to complete an NVQ and get promoted to the next grade, a PCO5.
